The Matcha Ritual.
A step-by-step interactive manual to preparation. Master temperature sifting, dosage levels, and traditional W-motion chasen foaming.
Sift the Matcha
Sift 1-2 bamboo scoops (approx. 1.5g) of ceremonial grade matcha through a fine sieve directly into your ceramic bowl (chawan). Sifting breaks up static clumps caused by transport to ensure an exceptionally smooth, creamy froth without clumping.
Pre-warm your ceramic bowl with hot water beforehand, then wipe it dry.
Traditional Brew Tools.
The Bamboo Chasen (茶筅)
Handcrafted from a single piece of seasoned winter bamboo. Our whisk has 100 fine prongs, split and curled to perfectly suspend the tea powder in micro-froth rather than dissolving it.
The Ceramic Chawan (茶碗)
A wide clay bowl that gives you ample space for whisking in W-motions. The textured glaze helps create smaller, creamier bubbles, and holding the heavy clay warms both hands.
The Bamboo Chashaku (茶杓)
A slender scoop bent by hand over hot steam. One leveled chashaku scoop holds about 1 gram of matcha. Two scoops are ideal for a traditional bowl.
